suggests your vitamin B12 and/or folate may be low.
I thought it might be something to do with B12. My recent B12 and folate levels were OK.
B12 257
Folate 10.9
And I've been taking a high strength b complex for 6 months so don't know why it's a little higher!?
Do you have the reference ranges for those results?
Yes folate is just 4 and above and the B12 range is 180-1000
I hate those reference range for folate that have no upper limit. I try to keep my folate at about 20, although it does swing up and down wildly for some unknown reason.
If the reference range for folate has a top and bottom I like to keep my level in the upper half of the range.
Your B12 is far too low. The advice generally given on this forum is that B12 should be above 500 as an absolute minimum, and preferably close to or matching top of the range. So yours has a long way to go.
And which B Complex product have you been taking?
Its a Holland and Barratt tincture you put under your tongue for 30 seconds. It has B12 (1000 iu), B6, folic Acid, B1,2,3 and 5 in it.
I've tried to identify it from the H&B website but unfortunately I can't for certain. Is it this one?
hollandandbarrett.com/shop/...
If it is it isn't a suitable product. It has no folate in it. And the vitamin B12 it contains is cyanocobalamin. The best kind of B12 is methylcobalamin.
The ones that usually get recommended on this forum are
Thorne Research Basic B - dose = 1 per day
Igennus Super B - dose = 2 per day. Usually after the first or second bottle people reduce dose to 1 per day.
