Increased from 137 to 150mcg

Hi, I'm right at the 4-week mark of the increase and I continue to be non-functional and it's worse than it was before the increase.

BP is normal but HR can get 10-20 above normal. Resting pulse has been up to 92; it fluctuates. I get sweaty and feel depressed and anxious.

I would have expected more relief at this point. Is this normal? Shouldn't I be feeling better by now?

Labs from 5/15/20

I can take a good 6 weeks for levels to stabilise and the full effects of an increase, which is why we say retesting should be 6-8 weeks after a dose change. It may still be too early for you to feel much benefit.

Also, you've only increased by 13mcg and with your May results being so bad the normal increase in dose would be 25mcg. I know that's been a problem for you in the past, but your dose increase is so small, and it's only 4 weeks, that it's not surprising things aren't much better yet.

Thank you for your response. I'm curious, how does one add 25mcg to 137 when there's only 150 and 175mcg tablets available? Would it need an additional 25mcg tablet or splitting tablets?

Levothyroxine comes in 25mcg tablets, 50mcg tablets 100mcg tablets and so forth. Not all brands make all the strengths.

This is a UK based forum and our Levo tablets come in 25mcg, 50mcg, 75mcg, 100mcg.

If we need something in between we can alternate, eg 100/50 to average 75mcg, or 100/150 to average 125mcg.

I don't know what dose tablets you have in the US.

Not what you're looking for?
