How do mexico and other pharmacies get through customs?

I was just wondering how all these Mexican and overseas pharmas get through UK customs as they are drugs that they are sending. Does anyone know how they do it? DO they have a licence or something?

They're not "drugs" in the sense of Class A (cocaine) etc. We are allowed to import medication for personal use, so as long as there is a reasonable amount (eg for a few months) then there is no problem. If we were importing hundreds of boxes of tablets it would then look like we are distributing and then the parcel may be stopped.

How can we be sure that meds being bought from abroad are not sugar tablets or something worse?

You ask for a recommendation of a reliable supplier from members. Those who are sourcing from overseas and doing well will obviously be receiving the genuine article. Anyone who thinks they may have received sugar tablets, or worse, will very likely not have had a recommendation from established members.

the vast majority of online pharmacies ( not requiring prescriptions ) will declare the package as containing vitamins, health supplements or something totally false. The odds on a personal use amount of thyroid meds being seized ( sent to UK from non EU ) is very very low ( and is technically legal other than the fact they have lied about package content and it's value ) unless you are unlucky enough to be ordering during that year's Operation Pangea ( which is Interpol's yearly crackdown on the online pharmaceutical trade ).
