What thyroid meds are you taking?
When did the breathlessness start?
Has it come on suddenly? After an illness perhaps?
A few months ago, you were very over-medicated. It sounds as if you haven't found your sweet-spot yet. What dose are you on now? How have you reduced meds (if you have)? What are your most recent bloods?
No recent bloods
T3 175mcg
T4 150mcg
I take iron selenium magnesium vit c vit d vit k2 and b complex
Been out of breath when gardening housework etc for ages
Thanks
That still sounds like a LOT of medication. I suspect you're still far too over-medicated to feel your best, but blood tests will confirm.
That’s an enormous dose of T3
Suggest you get full thyroid and vitamin testing ASAP
Remember to stop taking vitamin B complex a week before any blood testing
Last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
Last third of daily dose T3 8-12 hours before test
Have you had any heart tests ? breathlessness can be caused by cardiac diseases and AFib, been there myself !
Yes I’ve had AFib causes by work stress I take propranolol only when required maybe a few times a week
Maybe a checkup with your Cardiologist would be a good idea in case you need a change of medication, your Afib could well be causing the breathlessness, my Afib only improved with new meds and a pacemaker.
Hi fayray and bantam12, I just posted on the AF heart site as so breathless bending over when gardening for the last 3 months. GP says its internal organs pressing and nothing to worry about but lost weight in that time. I wondered if I should have my heart tested and they assured me I’d have more symptoms. What do you think? X
Personally I wouldn't just accept the GP's opinion if no tests have been done, even some basic tests would be better than guessing that all is normal.
Thank you for your reply. Which basic tests would you have done? Guess I will have to pay private x
Blood tests, BP, chest X-ray, ECG would be a start, If you feel there is a problem you have to be persistent, Dr's are very quick to fob women off with the usual anxiety, depression, hypochondria labels so we have to insist they listen to us. Both the 1st and 2nd Cardiologists I saw dismissed my symptoms but luckily the 3rd one took notice and I got the treatment I should have had years ago !
