I’m really sorry Weazle74, I can’t make head nor tail of that. Those aren’t blood pressure readings that I recognise. Did you mean 140/90 rather than 14/90?

Weazle74, I think you should probably give your doctor a call to see if you can get an online appointment. Some of those readings are a little high. Sometimes blood pressure can be high when we aren’t on quite enough levothyroxine (I’m going to assume you’re hypothyroid). But it might be high for another reason so to be on the safe side, chat it over with your doctor.

Hi weazle74, I can understand that you are worried about your BP, particularly and this time. I spoke to my doctor two weeks ago as my BP had been around 190/115 for some time. I've been given medication as it had been consistently high for months.

This is the information, given to my directly from my GP.

To get a true picture you need to take your blood pressure over a week. Old monitors, don't always give an accurate reading so ideally you should be using one less than three years old.

Don't take your reading as soon as you get up. Wait till mid morning or before lunch. Take your reading, wait two minutes and then take another reading. The second reading is usually lower.

Repeat this in the evening before you have a meal.

Keep a record for around five days.

Also keep a note of your heart rate if your BP machine gives you this.

If you need to speak to a doctor they will probably ask you to do this, so it will save time if you have the information ready.

Hope this is helpful for you. I called my surgery two weeks ago. The GP rang me back for information and decided to see me, however protocols may be different now, with the CV outbreak stepping up a gear.

My GP did say not to take blood pressure excessively. I think every half hour is probably too much. I understand how anxious you are about it but try to take it less often. Anxiety pushes it up so it is all a balancing act.
