Introduction. Hello.
Welcome to the forum
Feel free to ask any questions
Guessing you might originally have been prescribed NDT (pig thyroid) when first on replacement thyroid hormones. Before being transferred over to Levothyroxine.
Many GP's currently obsessed with trying to reduce patients dose of Levothyroxine, especially as we get older. This is often completely inappropriate and can lead to instability in levels
Dose of Levothyroxine should never be altered based just on TSH or TSH and FT4 results
Low vitamin levels are common. B12 especially tends to drop as we get older.
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Welcome to our forum and I am assuming you had your thyroid gland removed altogether?
SlowDragon has given helpful advice and I'd like to know if you've been without any clinical symptoms since taking levothyroxine? I hope so as symptoms can be very unpleasant.
