Sertraline & Levothyroxine....

Last time I was put on Sertraline it interfered with my Levothyroxine and I needed an increase of 25mcg Levothyroxine to get my levels back to where they should be. Yesterday my doctor put me back on the Sertraline and suggested putting my Levothyroxine dose up 25mcg so that my levels don’t drop again. Is this wise? xx

Yes. It is well documented that SSRi types of medication affect the action of levothyroxine.

But increasing before it’s affected my levels?

It takes 4 - 8 weeks for any change in levo to become effective depending on the individual. It takes 3 weeks or so for SSRis to get into the system.

I’m just worried I will become over medicated on the extra Levothyroxine?

There's no way of predicting if or when you will need the increase. You need to go by your instinct.
