Hello I’m from the USA, I feel good on NP thyroid but heard it’s changing! I’m on 1.5 grams 90 mg

If I change to synthetic what would I change to and what milligrams? If anyone knows anything about this please help! Thank you!

Diana58, yes, NP is changing and many people are switching to synthetics. In general, one grain of most NDTs is 38 mcg of T4 and 9 mcg of T3. So do the math if you're taking 1.5 grains NP. And btw, that's a very small dose. So if you want to switch you can go with levothyroxine (t4) and cytomel (t3).

(I'm in the US too, where are you?)

It’s been a roller coaster ride for me!

Diagnosed in 2014, I wasn’t feeling bad just loosing hair, dr told me my thyroid was dead put me on a low dose of synthetic immediately felt bad for a year I struggled with everything then I sought out an endo asked for ndt naturthroid then wp then np, last year I finally got tired of the pain in my back and front and had my gallbladder removed

No more pain, actually started feeling pretty normal, been hearing about all the changes and picked up my script, I have 49 old pills and am afraid to go on new ones! Not sure how to convert main thing is anxiety 😂

Diana58, do you have good medical care? Janesville seems to be out amongst the National Parks. 1.5 grains would be 57 mcg t4 and 13.5 mcg t3. A low dose. You might've felt like crap before if you were on levo only (t4). Do you have any recent labs that you can share with the group?

Five months ago I asked him to up the dose by 7 g and I don’t know why I felt really awful so I took myself off a month ago and I feel better but I haven’t had any labs since I took myself off

After he put me on the 7 g increase he did blood tests I think a couple weeks later or maybe a month later it was in July of this year and my TSH was 0.416 and my T3 free was 5.8 and T for free direct was 0.98

He did take a blood test before he gave me the upper dose and it was TSH 0.787 and he didn’t take anything else just the TSH
