Levothyroxine-to cut in half or split dosage?

I’ve recently increased my dose of Levo from 75mg to 87.5mg but have just realised I’ve run out of 12.5mg tablets.

Should I try to split 25mg in half (they are small!) or take 100mg one day and 75mg the next. I’d rather not ask my GP for another prescription of 12.5mg, as they think my results are ‘normal’, which is clearly not true. I plan to stay on 87.5mg for 6 weeks and recheck with Medicheck before seeing my Endocrinologist (who will write to my GP with agreed dosage).

Whatever suits your body. I cut tablets as I do not feel well if I alternate between 2 doses. Most folks seem to manage alternating. Do what you think is best.

I alternate and it suits me. Just experiment and see what suits you best.

Concentrate on how 'you feel' and increase accordingly until your symptoms are relieved.

Thanks for the advice- will try 100/ 75 on alternate days and see how I get on. Any problems, will cut a tablet in half....just looks a bit tricky as they are so small!!

A cheap pill cutter will do the job, or some people use a craft knife.

I cut my tiny Naturethroid pills every day- not a problem with a pill cutter. They're not expensive and work well.
