Hi can thyroid issues give you genera aches (back and abdominal pain) - nothing severe or persistent. Feeling brain foggy and yuck ... is it normal?

Yes all normal symptoms. Weird symptoms that you wonder how they can be connected to thyroid. And they come and go and they vary.

They can cause all sorts of problem in just about any and every part of your body. Because, T3 is needed by every single cell in your body to function correctly. And, if there isn't enough T3 to go round, those cells can't function correctly - or even at all - and that causes symptoms.

Thyroid issues cause muscle and joint pain especially in the calves. Thinning hair, palpitation, nervousness and anxiety.

I had ban pains in multiple joints. Have Hashi’s. Test your thyroid antibodies. Anything over 35 indicates an immune attack. Which can cause tightness pain and inflammation in tendons especially where they attach to bones. I’m on cox2 inhibitor-Celebrex - which is wonderful and I have sports massage every four weeks, which is also wonderful.

Did you get copies of recent blood test results?

Low vitamin D can cause widespread pain

Spoke to Dr who said TSH was within normal limits ... no other results except my Vit D was low 6 months ago and I haven’t had it checked again. Maybe time for another visit!!

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).

About 90% of all primary hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's.

Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances are very common too, especially gluten. So it's important to get TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once .

It's possible that the fillers in your thyroid meds are giving you problems . Switching to another brand many times is very helpful . Would you have your latest FT3 FT4 TSH lab values ? They are also very telling . I know when my FT4's are high I get many symptoms amongst them aches/pain .
