Hello everyone... still rather new to controlling my meds currently on 50Mg Levo taken in two doses..... ie 25mg at night then 25mg in the morning... seems better than one 50mg .... another couple of weeks to go [on week 6 at present] before I will check my bloods...

But since this heat we are having I seem to have gone backwards... I was feeling rather rough yesterday and today I have been suffering feeling under medicated is this a normal when the climate changes...

Any advise would be most welcome

It might be the weather, or it may be that your body is getting ready for next dose increase

Common to feel better initially, then as body gets use to the dose, you are ready for next 25mcg increase

Its 50mcg (not 50mg - that would be massive dose!)

Bloods should be retested after 6-8 weeks on each new dose

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

Many people find Levothyroxine brands are not interchangeable.

Once you find a brand that suits you, best to make sure to only get that one at each prescription. Watch out for brand change when dose is increased or at repeat prescription.

Many patients do NOT get on well with Teva brand of Levothyroxine. Though it is the only one for lactose intolerant patients. Teva is the only brand that makes 75mcg tablet.

Yes tis 50mcg ..... I'm on MercuryPharma which seems to suit me... did have a very bad reaction with Teva and now have the GP mark my script with MP. also the time lapse for blood draw i did not know it was 24 hours....

Many thanks for your advice much appreciated

Hi, I'm only 6 weeks into levo and I felt awful in the heat but I also noticed I seemed to feel a bit 'sunstroked' after less time in the sun -despite factor 30 and head covering (i.e. dizzy, tried, brain-fog mainly). I did wonder if levo interacted with sun in any way? Also, I wondered if the body's thermostat might be altered - well it must be because I don't feel cold any more when I used to feel cold no matter how warm the weather if I sat for more than ten minutes. If you don't mind me asking, why do you split your dose? I know some people do but when I tried that it wasn't enough in the morning. My endo put me on 50 but I was a bit hectic so I split it for a couple of weeks and then upped it to 50! Also how long have you been taking it? How are you now it's cooling down a bit?

Hello... yep the heat did not like me either... still feeling a tad under the weather but the morrow is another day.... taking 50 levo made me feel unwell in the morning.... for a couple of hours or so... and logical thinking the body does not take a hit of 50 so I thought I would split the dose being taking this way for a couple of weeks it seems to work for me..

trust your feeling better
