Hi all, I was just wondering if people still had a problem with Teva even after the change of ingredients? I am often prescribed a mix of Activis and Teva. I feel best on Activis tbh and have stopped taking Teva pills and am cutting up my Activis ones to make the correct dose. I’ve been doing this to see if it makes any difference to my ear problems which came on last year. Hope that all makes sense!

Any problems with Teva levo after ingredients change?
Many members have adverse reactions to Teva levothyroxine. Possibly due to the fact that lactose has been replaced with mannitol and they may be reacting to that. If you do well on Actavis, then make sure you get that brand in future and refuse the Teva pills by checking the pharmacy bag before you leave the counter and handing them back if you've been given them.
What doses of tablets are you prescribed?
100 and 50s as Activis and 25 as Teva. Not sure how I persuade the chemist but will talk to them over the phone and see where I get with them.
You don't need to persuade the chemist, just hand them back and say something like "I react badly to Teva levothyroxine, I don't want this brand". Then explain to your GP that you can't take Teva and can your prescription be altered to include enough 50mcg dose tablets to enable you to cut them to make up for the 25mcg, or you can alternate 150/200mcg to average 175mcg - this is what my GP did when I was on 175mcg daily, she said it's easier to take only 2 tablets rather than 3 (I think that was code for "it's cheaper").
There are a couple of other brands who do 25mcg dose tablets, but it's best to stick to one brand if you know you do well on it, even if it means cutting the tablet or alternating dose.
