Highly likely you are now extremely under medicated
Dose of Levothyroxine may not have needed reducing at all. Even if it did need slight reduction the MAXIMUM a dose should be reduced in one go is by 25mcg
Have you had bloods retested after 8-10'weeks on lower dose? If not the need doing ASAP
You are legally entitled to printed copies of your blood test results and ranges.
UK GP practices are supposed to offer online access for blood test results. Ring and ask if this is available and apply to do so if possible, if it is you may need "enhanced access" to see blood results.
In reality many GP surgeries do not have blood test results online yet
Alternatively ring receptionist and request printed copies of results. Allow couple of days and then go and pick up.
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised or if under medicated
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw). This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random
If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).
About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's.
Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances are very common too, especially gluten.
So it's important to get TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once .
You state above "they cut my dosage from 200mcg to 125 mcg as they claim my thyroid was not working at all". Do you mean they reduced your dose from 200 to 125, i.e. 75mcg. Normally adjustments are by 25mcg each time (either increase or decrease)!
If your thyroid gland was 'nor working at all' they should not decrease your dose.
All reported to GP to no availe worse since they cut my dosage from 200mcg to 125 mcg as they claim my thyroid was not working at all ?
In that case I would run away from this GP as fast as you can, and learn a little about your condition yourself. A good place to start is Thyroid UK's main website (this is their forum).
In several previous posts when you posted similarly, you were advised to obtain copies of your recent blood test results and post them here for more specific guidance; and also to consider obtaining a comprehensive sets of thyroid function blood test results by testing privately. Did you do either of those?
I did leave a post on bloods but apparently it was confusing🤔
So will try again 😊
Thank you all especially slow
dragon for the replies, as you will see l am very confused by it all, l keep asking questions of the GP but possibly not the right ones l was more than happy on the higher dosage none of the symptoms that l have now but they claimed in order to get my thyroid producing its own t4 l should cut back as the higher dose might lead to heart problems.
Well hives, swollen ankles insomnia etc are also it says signs of an allergic reaction?
I will get my bloods for the last 12 months and post and will try not to confuse anyone, l copied what was written but l think you just need numbers?
Looked at blue horizon lots of different and expensive tests.
Any idea which one is recommended to have to cover all bases please.
I also have my b12 8 weekly as l need it to function properly, when l went this time the practice nurse asked if l would like to extend the time between jabs, looked when l said No as if she had swallowed a wasp 😂
Take care all apologies if l am not always clear but so much is unclear to me.
