It sounds as though your doctor doesn't know what he's doing. Thyroid hormone replacement dose changes should be gradual and in small amounts, i.e. Levothyroxine should be 25mcg at a time, retesting after 6 weeks. It was ridiculous to reduce your dose from 200mcg to 100mcg (you will be taking micrograms - mcg and not milligrams - mg).

You haven't given us any test results, if you post these, along with their reference ranges, we can comment. To get a full picture we need to see:

TSH

FT4

FT3

Thyroid antibodies

As you have B12 injections, you could very well have other nutrient deficiencies or low levels, so we also need to see:

Vit D

Folate

Ferritin

If you can't get everything tested by your GP, and if you are in the UK, you can get private tests with one of ThyroidUK's recommended labs. Many of us do this because our doctors wont do all the tests. If you wish to go down this route, ask and we can suggest the appropriate test bundle.

Thank you for the reply, l am seeing him Tuesday so will ask for the print out, they claimed my thyroid was not making any of its own and that was why, l have also read that in France they are asking for a change from le thyroxine to another brand as they have changed the make up of it and some people report weight gain ? Has anyone else herd this ?

Thinking of going private to see if l can get the natural version.

Are you in France? The only brand of levo there's ever been in France, I think you'll find, is Levothyrox. And, yes, they changed the formulation a couple of years ago, I think. They made it lactose free. But, like Teva in the UK, it disagreed with a lot of people. So, about time they got a new brand! Let's hope it gets the right formulation, this time!

But, if you're in France, you won't find anyone to prescribe you NDT, if that's what you mean by 'the natural version' (which, in reality, is not as natural as all that!). NDT is illegal in France.

Thank you Greygoose no not in France just read a post on it and felt it might be world wide as America has the same issuse.

I don't know if it's world-wide, but it would seem some companies are trying to increase their share of the market by developing lactose-free levo. But, it's not working very well. It's ok in the UK, because there's plenty of choice of brands. But, in France, there is only the one, which is catastrophic for some people.
