Is there any one know about the stem cell treatment or thyroid gland transplant?

Stem cell treatment for hypothyroid and transplant
I've read quite a bit about stem cell therapy & haven't found trials that it's successful for thyroid dysfunction or any autoimmune disease. Don't know anything about thyroid gland transplants. Of course, the problem with any organ transplant is being on immune suppressant drugs for life. The other issue is if the thyroid problem is due to autoimmunity that same autoimmune problem will still exist to attack a new thyroid.
I have often hoped for that. I googled "stem cell regrowth of thyroid?" and found a million hits. Research is getting there, I believe they have succeeded in mice.
Off topic: I asked my doc about stem cells for cartilage regeneration in knees. We can have it but it costs $5000 per knee but needs a second membrane surrounding it, the second membrane takes the impact and without it your expensive cartilage will wear out within a few months. I hope they get to thyroid regrowth within my lifetime.
