Hi, I’ve been started on Prednisolone 15mg for a few weeks, will this affect my thyroid levels. Thank you.

I find that steroids suppress my TSH.

Thank you, I had heard that steroids affected your thyroid in some way, but wasn’t sure in what way.

My GP did not believe that it was the steroids that suppressed the TSH the first time it happened but when it happened again, he accepted that the steroids were the cause. I now take Hydrocortisone three times a day as I have Adrenal Insufficiency but take T3 only so my TSH would be suppressed anyway.

Hi, sorry I’ve taken a while to reply, I’ve been feeling really unwell. I get my thyroid levels checked again at the beginning of March, so it will be interesting to see what my levels are while on the steroids. Thanks for your advice. X
