Has anyone else had a thyroid DNA profile done by Blue Horizon lab? I've just received my results and, frankly, am scratching my head trying to make sense of them. They are contradictory and confusing to say the least and the test seems, on the face of it, to be a complete waste of money. Any comments would be gratefully received.

I had this test done and agree the results are explained very badly. They have gone round in circles trying to create simple explanations and have ended up making them more complicated.
I was basically only interested in the DIO2 result which revealed I have the CC variation meaning I inherited the polymorphism from both parents. The polymorphism indicates poor T4 to T3 conversion...worse if from both parents/homozygous.
I could make little of the explanation given and others have commented similarly!
But....with a little work/research it proved a good starting point to work out what treatment I need.
I had it done and didn't get the results that I was expecting, but there is more to health than DNA - you can have a "bad" gene/SNP for one thing that is effectively cancelled out by a "good" gene/SNP for another. And not all genes will be expressed.
I had it done and agree the comments supplied are not enlightening or helpful. However, knowing what are the snps tested, you can then search around and find information and journal papers about them all. Particularly if you find the different ways in which the snp can be referred to as.
I must add, I couldn't find any papers that argue that a polymorphism in Thr92Ala results in impaired t4 to t3 conversion, instead there have been studies that suggest individuals with it report higher levels of satisfaction on combination therapy. I have the CC variant, now whether or not Endos or GPs would care much about it all remains to be seen, but some in this forum have reported success in getting T3 prescriptions.
