DIO2 Test on T3?

DeniseR profile image
7 Replies

I’ve just had a new endocrinologist referral refused and my appointment cancel, due to the fact that I’m on T3 and this particular trust does not agree with the treatment of T3.

Not sure what to do next.... But thinking it might be a good idea to try and get more proof I need T3.

Can I take the DIO2 test whilst taking T3?

Yes you can. Many of us take the test after starting T3 and finding it so beneficial

Which CCG area are you in? Obviously many are trying to deny prescription due to cost

They can not deny patients T3 if you have clinical need. But you may need to see the right endocrinologist. Many will not stand up against CCG, who are in effect their employer

I’m in Kent and my GP referred me slightly out of my immediate area, to Medway. I’m based in Sevenoaks....

I’m going to have to get up to speed with all this. I was looking at booking a private endo but realise I wouldn’t be able to afford much past the first appointment and wondering if I’d be better spending the money on testing that the NHS won’t do, to find out myself what’s going on...

I think 'going it alone' is better because we can then please ourselves and not be dictated to a 'dose' which may not enable us to recover our health.

Members on the forum are excellent in their advice and support.

Yeah, I agree! I’ve been going it alone for some time now but it’s difficult sometimes when you don’t have all the resources. I was hoping to finally get some support from the NHS but obviously nothing’s changed 😕

The doctors have been given their orders whereas in the past they could have used their inititative and they could presribe NDT and take account of our clinical symptoms. It has changed for the worst if the patient doesn't improve on levothyroxine.
