I had the left side of my thyroid removed on Friday as I had a u3 cyst thy1 there that kept growing after every aspiration. The surgeon has told me the cyst measured 7cm x 5cm so bigger than even I thought! We knew it was pushing my trachea to the right, guessed it was big but not quite that big. Anyway I’m feeling ok, I am having a lot of pain behind the left shoulder blade and back of my head...is this normal? Any advise of things that can help will be appreciated.
Many thanks in advance

You might find gentle heat helps your shoulder blade. Have you got a wheatbag you could use? You warm it in the microwave as per instructions or you could use a covered hot water bottle. Mention it at your follow up if still painful or ring GP if you need to discuss pain relief.
I’ve been warming up a wheat bag which I have been placing that over the sore area. Thank you I will contact gp as it’s worse than the pain from the operation. Is this normal though?
