I was treated for Graves’ disease with block and replace - that was back in 2012. In 2014 I found out that research was being done by a group called Apitope to develop a vaccine. Well today while sorting through my notes I discovered the paper I had saved and wondered if the research was still being carried out and if so how they were progressing. This is what I found. Looks positive. I imagine I’ll be too old by the time anything is on the market but for younger people with Graves the idea of a vaccine could be very exciting.

Apitope Announces Positive Results with Novel Treatment for Graves' Disease
Oh - that's great news and to think you helped in the Research. That's wonderful Fruitandnutcase. Also for those who have Graves.
Very interesting! Thanks for posting. Will keep on eye on how that develops...
Thanks for posting. My local hospital was involved in the trials, but they had just closed their books when I was first seen, and I think my thyroid levels were too high anyway.
Definitely a reason for younger sufferers to hang onto their thyroids for as long as possible.
I vaguely remember that Apitope was already in use for something, so perhaps they won’t need to go through all of the trials again ?
I asked a few endos in the UK to do block and replace on me and they said they don't "believe in it" and don't know anything about it.... I am on the edge of staying stable but my RT3 is very off which means I am not converting... (according to my doc in the US)..but live in UK now and have no idea who to go to that is knowledgeable enough not to make me sick again, but help me get over the hump and fully stable. Any suggestions?
