Hi, does anyone know if there is a conflict between Nitrazepam and Levothyroxine please. I take both.
Thanks in advance.

I am assuming (and I am not medically qualified) that you've been prescribed Nitrazepam for anxiety/stress etc. If so I would advise you to get a Free T4 and Free T3 blood test. GP probably wont do these but we have private labs which will do them and I will give a link. They are home pin-prick tests and make sure you are well hydrated a couple of days before blood draw.
If both are low, especially T3 you need increase in dose to bring both Frees towards the upper part of the range. T4 is inactive and has to convert to T3. T3 is the only Active thyroid hormone and is needed in our millions of T3 receptor cells and brain and heart have the most cells.

Doctors are apt to treat 'symptoms' separately and give prescriptions for them when we actually need thyroid hormones at an optimal level.

I am not medically qualified so don't stop any medications without proper advice.
Hi dashi. I have taken small doses of alprazolam (Xanax) for some time for severe anxiety. Both nitrazepam and alprazolam are in the benzodiazepine med group. I took them more often when very stressed early on with an atrial fibrillation diagnosis. I take less now that I have a pacemaker and my pulse doesn't make me so anxious.
My endo said they were fine to take with my T3 and T4 but not to take them together. Best to take thyroid by itself whatever else we take.
As I take my thyroids early (5 or 6 AM) this is not a problem. But I take a second T3 dose around 2 or 3 PM. Just to be sure I absorb all thyroid possible I leave at least an hour and a half window on either side and don't eat or take any other medicines.
This is probably more time than is needed but I don't absorb meds well and I feel so good with the T3 added I want to give the med every chance to work properly.
This works for me and, yes, I probably have some OCD (obsessive compulsive traits) going on. LOL
