I keep getting sciatica flare ups if I over do things. I don’t think I am optimal and have upped my activity lately. I think it is from having jelly muscles that aren’t supporting me.
Does anyone have any recommendations for any exercises that I can do to support the lower lumber area without exacerbating things. Sometimes my body feels strong and I am able to do things and my back is fine but other times it feels really unstable back there.
I know sciatica/ back problems can be related to low thyroid so any suggestions or advice would be really appreciated. Thank you

Hi there. It’s a good idea, if you haven’t already, to find out the cause of your sciatica. Sciatica is a symptom rather than a condition in itself, so if you have it then it’s important to get MRI imaging and see if you can access the reports yourself.
Then, if you have herniated discs (the most common cause) as I do, you can see a good physio who can give you appropriate exercises - rather than assuming it relates to your thyroid problems. Degenerative Disc Disease will affect most people as they age, to a greater or lesser extent and is the most common cause of Sciatica I believe.
