feeling proud of myself and conversation with doctor.

Self 'Dr G you are the best GP in this practice but you are a terrible doctor'.

Dr G 'How do you mean'

Self 'Well I was really ill with moxydema crisis last year and I would have died if I hadnt treated myself. I dont mind that so much, people make mistakes but whats terrible is that if it happened again and I ran outof thyroid hormones I cant see you rushing to get the prescription pad out, can you?

Dr G wrinkles his nose but says nothing.

'We are hot potatoes us thyroid patients arent we, nobody wants to touch us'.

'Now what about my child is he going to have a moxydema crisis, cause I think he is getting worse. Can we make a plan for this?

It is amazing of what we can achieve by a little knowledge when our lives or families are at stake.

Especially when we find out that dysfunctions of the thyroid gland are deemed 'easy' to treat. Those doctors and specialists who should be knowledgeable aren't and are more afraid of not following the 'awful' rules than returning patients to good health by prescribing a variety of thyroid hormones - not sticking to the guidelines that don't improve many patients' overall health. That their insistance that levo alone is to be prescribed whilst ignoring the pleas of patients to try options which have been withdrawn from being prescribed despite their usefulness in relieving clinical symptoms.

Patients are forced to do their own 'doctoring' - sourcing their own thyroid hormones - getting their own blood tests - and requesting help/advice from forums which really should be unnecessary. What about those who have no online knowledge?

The Associations who ignore scientific evidence that some people need to take other than levo to recover their health and who don't seem to care that a decent thyroid hormone is prescribed instead of supplementary prescriptons to control remaining symptoms especially antidepressants and pain relief etc. Doctors who do prescribe are penalised and forbidden to use their 'skills' and could lose their licences.

Both FT4 and FT3 are rarely tested so how can we, the patient, ensure they are at the top of the ranges because they have deemed these two are unnecessary. We, the patients, are aware that they are more informative but even more informative is the patient who states "my symptoms have resolved, I feel well, I can function as I used to and energy has also returned".

They could save money by not doing so many blood tests but trialling the 'options' which used to be avalable instead of the Associations being untruthful about 'grandfathered' options which have shown how effective these have been since 1892 and still are. They seem to never read or accept Research - particularly the usefulness of T3/T4 combinations. There have been quite a number of researchers proving that some do need a combination.

The Professionals need a 'spring clean' i.e. to get rid of wrong ideas: to permit trials of options and restore health which should be the priority.

They did not even accept an invitation by Dr Skinner to a Conference to discuss the 'Parlous Situation' of patients who remained undiagnosed/untreated/undertreated.He was so worried as he was referred so many patients who had 'mysterious diseases' (he treated for hypo and they recovered) - but all of the Endocrinologists refused and the last withdrew the day before the Conference. Was it due to a Virologist daring to speak to the Endocrinology?

Dr Skinner provided the life-giving hormones to Lorraine Cleaver and not only did his prescription resolve Lorraine's symptoms but restored her to her family when one step from suicide.

dailyrecord.co.uk/news/real...

We know of another woman who couldn't carry on and did succeed.

The GMC - before the final appearance of Dr Skinner before them - had received 10,000 testimonials from Dr S's grateful patients whose lives he 'saved'. What other doctor has ever had so many and who did the 'complaining' that brought Dr S before the GMC (several times).

We should not only have one brave doctor who sees the failings of medical Associations in general. We now appear to have no one at all. Not surprising if they are prevented from practicing.

It is really tough for us and one of problems has been that as more and more patients have become political about this the hotter we have become as potatoes. It has become a big batttle ground of patients against endos. We cannot back down due the the consequences for our health and the endos will not as generally in stronger position politically.

Nice one!.

First a compliment, followed by a verbal punch to the ego, and then a rescue-by-empathy

Good job

Just shows that it isn't a patient lecturing a doctor with thyroid knowledge that convinces that doctor to act but rather, reminding him of his duty to practice medicine. Kind of takes his mind off his other fears, such as a reprimand from his medical board because they run the thyroid show.
