Fauzie if you haven't had a recent blood test, I would advise you get one. You might very well need an increase in your dose and this is a list of symptoms. You will probably have more than one:-

Fauzia123 - if you can put a bit of your thyroid history into your Profile, it is helpful for members to look at if they want a bit more information. Instead of you having to repeat information.

You need a Full Thyroid Blood test. It should be at the earliest possible, fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours between your last dose of levo and the test and take afterwards.

If you can afford a private test, we have two labs who do all of the ones you need. They are home pin-prick and you must be well-hydrated a few days before blood draw.

I think your Free T3 will be low and it is T3 which is needed in all of our T3 receptor cells.

Blue Horizon or Medichecks are the labs. Medichecks do an offer of some kind each Thursday.

I hope GP has tested B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate. All need to be optimal.

shaws I have a question in regards to this "You might very well need an increase in your dose.' Every time I try and up my dosage, even just by 2mcg's, my skin becomes miserably dry. I am not sure what to do about this. I am on T3 only and taking 40 mcg's a day, split into 3 doses.

I am not medically qualified but I find one daily dose suits me fine.

If we split dose our stomach has to be empty (before and after) as food etc can interfere with the uptake and as we have to take thyroid hormones for a lifetime, I think one dose is less bothersome. Of course people can please themselves.

The other reason is that when increasing the dose is to add a little at a time (1/4 tablet) to the original dose as I believe it's then easier to judge when we're on too much. I follow one of our deceased Adviser's recommendation and he was an expert on the prescribing/use of T3 for his Resistant Patients. Other patients were prescribed NDT. Dr Lowe only took one blood test and from then on it was gradual increases and taking note of relieved symptoms until patient felt well.

Dr Lowe stated that one daily dose saturated all of our T3 receptor cells and the work of this one dose lasted between one to three days.

Unfortunately i dont have tablets. My t3 is in liquid form. What is your dosage you take all at once?

I take 37.5 mcg. Dr Lowe - due to having Thyroid Hormone Resistance took one daily dose (in the middle of the night) of 150mcg T3.

Try to get a full blood test done and check if you have low magnesium. This is often the cause of keg cramps and restless leg syndrome. You could try a magnesium oil spray rubbed into your feet and legs to see if it helps.

I suffered from terrible cramp for almost 3 years, after finding this forum it became clear to me that I had been very under medicated. When my levothyroxine was raised to the right dose for me and my vitamin levels were raised as advised here, my cramping quickly vanished. Of course it is also important that you do not become dehydrated.

As previously suggested, full blood tests, my leg pains were caused by a very low Vit D.

It’s worth getting it all checked there are so many things that cause leg pains it could be any number.

Good luck

I agree about low magnesium I find magnesium oil makes a huge difference to pain It takes a few days to get going so don’t give up on it straightaway Epsom salts in a bath gives a good hit old remedy but works Good luck

Can also be dehydration. Make sure you drink lots of fluid especially water to flush your system. I always get them if I do not drink enough. Have you any swelling on your legs either especially around the ankle? If you have, it may be oedema which is another symptom that you might need more medication.
