Hi everyone. Just discovered this group and so glad I did! Just started on 50mg to treat my hypothyroidism after a very long time (years) of being told my my GP, "We'll just keep an eye on it". Feeling more positive and looking forward to feeling better.

Welcome to the forum Hoot7 🙂

I felt like yourself when I found this site, it's a fantastic tool box for those of us that suffer with thyroid problems.

I assume you are on Levothyroxine via your GP? If so have you booked an appointment for 6-8 weeks time to get your bloods tested to check levels?

Get your GP to test for TSH, Vitamin B12, vitamin D, Iron, ferritin & folate. Then post results on the forum and members can help you interrupt them.

50mcg of Levothyroxine is a starter dose and increases of 25mcg every 6-8 weeks are required in order to alleviate symptoms. It take 6-8 weeks for the Levo to do its thing & feel effects.

If you have recent blood results then by all means post them & we can help, if needs be, particularly as vitamin & mineral deficiencies alone can make us feel very ill with hypo symptoms.

Post your health history on your profile as this too can teach more people & you'll get more advice.

Enjoy the forum, you'll soon find out you know more than your GP 🙂

......PS... read up & research as much as you can through the links people give you, books such as Stop The Thyroid Madness etc. You'll find like so many others here that helping yourself is the only & best way 🙂

..sorry not thinking straight today...when you post any results, always ensure you post the ranges too. This tells us where in the range your levels fall & this is important information since it informs on increases or decreases in doses of any treatment or supplements you take take. Right, I think that's it now 😉

Please don't worry ~ start your own post, and put up your latest blood results and ranges, and members will try and help. They may not see you here!😊. It's a horrible problem and most of us have a good cry when we get down about things.

I'm glad you have children to keep you going. You need to post your vitamin levels too, because when these are low, it can make us feel very ill. Remember you need to take vitamin K2-MK7 and magnesium with the vitamin D. Try and give some details in your new post so members can help. x
