"Parents should avoid using infant wipes and thoroughly wash soap off their babies to reduce the risk of childhood food allergies, scientists have warned.
Researchers have hailed a “major advance” in understanding what causes the complaints after tests revealed links between skin damage and intolerance to certain foods.
They suggest that an increasing failure by parents to rinse away soap after washing their babies is contributing to the rise in childhood food allergies.
The top layer of skin is made of lipids, types of fat, which can be disrupted by soap and soapy chemicals in wipes, the team at Northwestern University found"......

Allergies can be linked to a weakened immune system so i think it is important to do more detective work and peel away the layers to the root cause. I have very recently read how the increase of allergies in children in the US is directly connected to the increase in vaccinations - from the 80's onwards. Maybe this is a clever diversion from the real issue
Of course blaming parents that they are not doing things properly instead of challenging the efficacy of vaccines is an easy route
As a Mum in the 60's wipes and the rest were not available and I agree their ingredients are not helpful. Not mentioning the disposable nappy mountain !!! ....
I agree with marz that allergies are linked to the weakened immune system-i'm greedy and have 3 immune diseases and have noticed a big difference with certain products that now i have become allergic to.
My daughter is 13 coming up and as a baby i never used baby wipes it was cotton wool dampened in tepid water-i didnt want to use all the added ingredients in baby wipes. I think johnsons baby products is one of the worst!!😊😊 thanks for the info poppythecat.🐱
Given the fact that baby wipes can strip paint I never cease to be amazed that people would actually use these on something as delicate as a baby's bottom...
