Hello I've been on levo since December last year. First 2 months grand felt good. They changed my brand from teva to actavis think that those are the names. Well I started to itch all over it was unbearable. I thought it was the brand change so I got the pharmacy to give me the teva back. Unfortunately that hasn't worked my scalp is on fire my hair is like straw I have lumps a and red patches on my wrists neck and shoulders. It's really getting me down. I'm on 50 mg. I'm going to the doctor today I'm afraid of being robbed off. Is this familiar to anyone. Thanks in advance.

Could be caused by the excipients in the pill. You could try taking an antihistamine before your levo for a day or two to see if it helps. If it does you are allergic to something in the levo pills.

Just tell your doctor you think you have a sensitivity to the thyroid hormones and your symptoms.

Some of us do have a problem with fillers and binders. GP may not believe you but you can tell him that on the Help Forum this problem has arisen quite often for some people.

What you can do and you can tell your GP if he isn't sympathetic you believe there's something in the tablets which is making you feel much worse.

If we are on an optimum dose of levo or others we should have no symptoms at all.

It is recommended that someone who may be having a reaction to levo (or any other medications) that if they take an anti-histamine tablet one hour before thyroid hormones (levo or whatever they take) if it relieves their symptoms the doctor should see what can be prescribed which wont cause even more additional symptoms than hypothyroidism.

There are many of us who have had problems with TEVA brand genericd. Try typing in Teva in the top rt hand 'search thyruidiukuk box and check this out.

What on earth am I to do. Just read some of the numerous posts..I've also had running nose cough sneezing the cough has lasted a month. Feel very down about this. I have a baby with down syndrome and a 4 year old I just cannot be I'll all the time.

One thinG I've done is not accept any more meds at the pharmacy counter from Teva or any company that you suspect might be causing you a problem. You must check before leaving the pharmacy counter as meds (US) are not returnable. It is your right as a patient to do this, Legally.
