Thyroid cancer and subsequent eye disease

Hi, just came across this in an optometry journal and thought worth posting.

Often thyroid eye disease is associated with hyperthyroidism not hypo, but more research is showing the effects of a depleted thyroid and it’s associated nutrional deficiencies and after effects on eyes.

Interesting. Its unsurprising that thyroid cancer survivors would have more age related conditions, because on Levothyroxine, all their organs and tissues are struggling to manage.

It doesn't sound like this is specifically TED, thyroid eye disease, which is very specific. Sounds like it's the full range of eye diseases they might see.

I had my thyroid cancer 5 years ago, and have just been referred to they eye hospital by my optician. The same happened at my last eye test 2.5 years ago. Then I was just checked out and discharged at the hispital, but the optician says it's a lot worse this time. This is for a swollen and raised optic disc. I'm a little alarmed because this is apparently a common first symptom of MS. Although since I've been chronically ill I've had quite a few scares for other serious illnesses.
