Wouldnt think so as you store it in your body. But I would "kick some serious ass" on Monday.

Any pharmacy is allowed to let you have a few tablets to cover issues like this. Have you asked? Did they offer?

They simply need to be convinced that you are genuine!

Although a lot of pharmacies are closed on Sundays, those in some supermarkets are often open. Take an old box with you, if you have one.

It might not be that terrible to have to go without but, in my view, it simply shouldn't happen.

Hi Gillybabe

If you ring 111 and tell them you are out of this they should ring the Out of Hours dr to see if they have any in stock or will supply a prescription to tide you over. Meanwhile if u ring some pharmacies say at Supermarkets as it is the weekend to make sure they have this drug in stock it would be useful .

Asdsa. Sainsburys, Tescos, Lloyds pharmacy, Boots etc.

On Monday get onto your surgery and ask for a bigger quantity in case this happens again.

Good luck.

NHS 111 is not UK-wide.

The reported £7.50 to £8.50 cost of handling NHS 111 calls in England (from when it was established) seems a bit excessive for a few tablets that cost pence. Directly going to a pharmacy seems a less costly approach - to NHS funds.

Best to speak to a dr to decide really,

Some pharmacies still refuse even with evidence of previous prescribing and insist on a prescription even if they know you etc. Seems ridiculous but they are keen not to lose out!

. The out of hours can only provide a prescription for a few days in order to tide you over. Crazy system but there you are.!!!

Yes - but you won't know without asking! It is up to the pharmacy and pharmacist.

I believe they can actually charge for the tablets - so I do not see any losing out. They can also try to woo you for your future needs if they are helpful.

No it won’t hurt you. I once went without for 4 days while on a mini cruse. BUT I felt extremely draggy for a week after. Do as suggested and go to a chemist that’s open and tell them what’s happened. They are more obliging than the surgery usually. X

It won’t hurt to go without for 3 days. It stays in your system for 7 days. I had to stop taking it for 5 days for a short synacthen test. I felt a bit more tired than usual by day 5 but soon caught up.

Thank you. That is reassuring.

Why did your surgery not have your prescription? If the surgery was open I'm guessing that there must have been at least one doctor on duty who could have written a prescription for you if you'd mentioned that you had run out.

In your shoes I would complain on Monday, assuming you gave them enough time when handing in a repeat prescription request or ordering online.

This is not acceptable. They have your health records so they can issue a prescription on Monday

I work in a pharmacy and the pharmacist can do you an emergency prescription. They don’t lose out because they still get paid for an emergency prescription. If you just make sure you have your repeat slip or a box with the label you shouldn’t have any problems. It’s not like it’s a controlled drug so shouldn’t have any problems!

Never go more than a day without taking your levo. i once went 4 days without it and my blood pressure went very low. Call 111 in the future. Ask for an emergency prescripton. They will give you a few days worth while your prescription is sorted. Xx
