Thyroid considered subclinical hypothyroidism

I went back for a repeat thyroid test as my reading was 5.6 3 months ago, same again this time round, considered subclinical hypothyroidism. Advised by doctor to come back in one year for check but don't need medication. Any suggestions on a natural remedy? as doctor informed me I don't need medication?

Did you do your blood test first thing in the morning before hot drinks or food? Mine was also 5.3 for years, I felt awful but they kept saying the same and asking “are you stressed?!” 😡 once I’d done it first thing with no food as advised it came back at 7 and I demanded an endocrine review, endocrine wrote back to GP and told him to start me on medication! 3 months on, I don’t feel 100% yet but look and feel so much better! If you are symptomatic please don’t allow them to fob you off x

Are you taking medication for it? I'm going to make an appt to see doctor as it's not sitting right with me. Thank u for reply

Yes I’m now on 75mcg of Levothyroxine, due another blood test next week, I don’t feel amazing but I’m awake at 10pm and that’s a miracle!! 😂

Did you have your blood test at the very earliest, fasting (you can drink water). If you were on thyroid hormones you'd allow a gap of 24 hours between last dose and test.

An early a.m. test gives the highest TSH as it drops throughout the day and can mean the difference between being diagnosed or not.

Get a print-out from the surgery and put them on a new post for comments. Make sure ranges are also given.

Ask also for B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate to be tested next time.

My TSH was 4.6 at its highest, but my symptoms were terrible. I saw about 4 different GPs and was even referred to an Endo who told me it was all in my head. I’ve got a huge family history of hashimotos. Went to see another GP and turned out she also had hashimotos so suggested I try a low dose of thyroxine and see how I get on.

I’ve now moved 200 miles away so don’t see her anymore but after nearly 2 years I was so thankful that someone was finally listening to me

Thank you Emma, I'm going to make an appt tmw to see the senior doctor as I'm not happy as I feel I'm being fobbed off.
