Help!!!! Levo different manufacturer!!!!!

I started levo a month ago, took last one yesterday. Looked at new Nix this morning and it’s a different manufacturer. I have heard and been told NEVER to change manufacturer. Docs won’t do anything as they can’t control what pharmacy orders. Old one was made by Wockhardt which is same one I was on before Doc took me off last year. I don’t want to risk being ill over Christmas!!! Only on 25mcg Doc reluctantly prescribed. I have phoned chemist they do not have other one and they told me that the new one (Mercury Pharma) is better than the Wockhardt as Wockhardt is from India and is cheaper!!!! Any guidance here would be appreciated. Thus whole Hypo Hashimoto’s thing has taken over my life and stress is making me ill.

Thanks

Wockhardt has fewer fillers than MP. If you feel well on Wockhardt stick to it. Ring around and find an independent pharmacy that is not tied into a contract with one supplier and ask them if they can supply Wockhardt. Next time, before you leave pharmacy, check tablets, if not what you want then ask for prescription back and take it elsewhere.

In future phone up pharmacies in your area, tell them what is on your prescription, tell them what you want, and ask if they can fill the prescription for you.

If they can, go to the pharmacy, tell them you want brand X and as Nanaedake says, make sure before you leave the counter that you get what you were expecting.

I find it strange (and racist) that a pharmacist can say that an Indian brand is less good because it is Indian and cheaper. The company that produced the Indian pills will have had to undergo the same trials and tests as the non-Indian ones in order to get a license for the UK market.

mcdermott,

He also would appear to be ignorant. Look at the Patient Information Leaflet for the product:

Manufacturer:

CP Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Ash Road North, Wrexham, LL13 9UF, UK.

It is not Indian; it is WELSH!

Yes I saw that! Boots took over this small pharmacy, I won’t be going there again.

mcdermott,

My attempts at both Welsh and Indian "accents" sound so similar, and segue in either direction so readily, that they are often indistinguishable. Perhaps his geographical understanding is as fluid?
