Hello Everyone. I am post op 6 weeks. My voice is still pretty weak. Doctor told me could take up to 3 months. The past week I've experienced achynessin my arms and shoulders. Very painful. I'm very constipated. Doctor told me to take 2 stool softeners daily. I'm currently on synthroid 75mg.
I'm really looking forward to weight gain. I miss my hyperthyroidism.

I am sorry you aren't feeling so well. I assume you shouldn't strain your voice too much in order that it heals - not that I know anything about a thyroidectomy.
Others who have will respond soon. I hope you have a quick recovery.
Thank you. Had very great doctors that were very aggressive with meds. Meds weren' working. He could see going down a bad road. I was d's in April of this yr
Have you had a follow up thyroid function test since you've been taking 75mcg? That's a very small dose for someone who has had a thyroidectomy and if you are undermedicated that will be why you are so constipated and achey.
It's not a given that weight increases after thyroidectomy. I lost a lot of weight and it's been a struggle to regain it.
If your voice remains weak after 3 months you should be referred to a voice therapist. The bruising and damage to your vocal chords during surgery can take up to six months to recover.
