Would a faulty DIO2 gene show up in the 123ME test? I have test results but can't see anything related.
DIO2 / 123ME: Would a faulty DIO2 gene show up in... - Thyroid UK
DIO2 / 123ME
YEs it does in the raw data - genetic life hacks has a set of really good instructions of how to find them will try and find link for you (see below 😊) can hit their link and get in tho it occurs to me this might not be safe info wise - too late I have done it now! I usually copy and paste the link
Genetic life hacks
This is page for mthfr
And all the thyroid ones including DOI2:
geneticlifehacks.com/thyroi...
Just go onto raw data and paste the bit with rs and numbers in the search box and hit search and it will give you the results below the box and gene diagrams, if you see a gene strand highlighted it has been found in your data
It is very easy to do once you know what to look for and what the result means
Good luck 🍀☘️🍀
Wow, I hadn't realised you could get any thyroid information from 23andme. This page includes a gene for thuroid hormone resistance, which is something I'm very interested in. Although its only a single gene, but I'm sure there are a number of different ones. In the comments it suggests this gene might not be included in the latest package.
This sounds like 23andme is a lot more complex than I'd realised! It looks a lot simpler on their own website. Could you tell me a bit about it please? Do you get a huge database of raw data that needs to be analysed using sites like the ones you link?

Grrrrrr was doing a response and this wretched site booted me out 😬
Let’s try again.
23&me stuff they provide on line is quite basic - genetic susceptibility for major diseases like Parkinsons all negative ve in my case. Thyroid used to be there but the FDA (no idea why)’ stopped them. There is quite interesting ancestry stuff to my delight I am the most Neanderthal of all my dna relatives😂🤣😂 they had bigger brains that modern humans too. I only have maternal dna my brother and father are both dead sadly. If you have a male relative with relevant paternal dna who does the test kit you can link up and use that to get more info about yourself from the male line. There is research you can get involved in but the raw data files have all the info about you the test gathered up.
You can search it for genes snps etc it seems pretty comprehensive judging from the genetic lifehacks searches I have done on mine. I did my test over a year ago so the info you can get may be a bit different now as they seem to chop and change all the while.
Or you can download the files and put those into a third party site like livewello to find out more running it through their health reports. There is a cost although there are some free sites out there.
23&me do sell your info but anonymously for research tho some say it could become less anonymous in the future - jolly well hope not I feel that would be unethical. The more 3rd parties you share with the more your info could be sold on which is the down side of using their health reports. How far it might impact on us in the future I am not really sure - I suspect I will have long cocked my toes up by the time anyone starts analysising my genetic code - lets face it even getting a diagnosis for hypothyroidism can be quite a challenge as for my genes being scrutinised for diseases is that really likely? If health in UK is completely privatised insurance companies would be onto it for sure. May be I am too complacent. So far I have just done my own searches of raw data.
Hope that helps
