Joint pain with new Levo formulation?

Anyone suffering? Could be complete coincidence but my finger and wrist joints, and now elbows have been grumbling - a dull ache. At first only on right-hand side which I put down to old RSI/carpal tunnel with too much knitting over the summer. However, now on both sides and elbows too. Anyone else had similar symptoms? Thanks ☺️

I was about to ask the same thing. I had to come off Teva for this reason and am now on Activis.

Many people find Levothyroxine brands are not interchangeable. Once you find a brand that suits you, best to make sure to only get that one at each prescription.

Final paragraph

Until better data become available, I will continue to follow the AACE/ATA/TES recommendations on LT4 treatment in my practice.

Physicians should:

1) alert patients that preparations may be switched at the pharmacy;

2) encourage patients to ask to remain on the same preparation at every pharmacy refill; and

3) make sure patients understand the need to have their TSH retested and the potential for dosing readjusted every time their LT4 preparation is switched (18).

In the UK the MHRA are the regulators for human medicines. Their 2013 report says that generic Levothyroxine in the UK is interchangeable. Changes were made to drug classification, manufacturing regulations and dissolution tests following the investigation and report in 2013.

TEVA was subsequently reformulated. However, many on this forum have reported problems with TEVA since then.

The 2013 report said the interchangeability would be kept under review so do a yellow card report if you have problems.
