5 thyroid disorder patterns not diagnosed by standard lab tests
A really good and informative link. Thanks for posting.
Brilliant. Thanks
It prints out well too - so long as you only ask for the first 3 pages lol
Trouble with Kresser's dialogue is that he is wrong on at least two counts. Both concern high and low TBG states. They do NOT by themselves cause hypothyroid problems or any problems at all. With high TBG, the reservoir of bound T4 is increased so that the FT4 produced isn't different from someone with a smaller T4 reservoir and less TBG. The same argument gos for the relationship between TBG and T3/FT3. In pregnancy, this is a special case. Oestrogen raises TBG levels, but they also open up the tissue cells to be more accessible for T4 and T3. It's like a doorway. In normal times the door is half open so that a crowd of people can only pass through at a certain rate one at a time. In pregnancy the door is threequarters open so more can pass through in the same time. But you don't want more to pass through - too many would accumulate at the other side (a hyper state). So you reduce the size of the crowd on the outside to reduce the pressure and compensate for the easier access.
