I give up....

Ever since I had a traumatic accident in 2003 my health has got steadily worse. I have the auto immune disease Alpha Trypsin with one bad gene MZ that began to affect lungs in my 30s. However I have been regularly test for thyroid and my tsh levels vary between above 5 to above 8. I have developed other symptoms that only lately I discovered could be related to thyroid. Osteopena, breathless coughing, throat tight, hearing loss(two hearing aids) sinus, bad memory loss, carpal tunnel, stomach reflux and food and alcohol reactions/intolerance and I'm only 54. My GP reckons that my Tsh is not high enough but with these other symptoms and the fact I have an existing auto immune condition should I be referred to an endo.

Please...my life is so awful at times

When you are symptomatic and have a tsh above the "normal" range gps do have the option of starting you on a "therapeutic trial" of levothyroxine. Unfortunately a lot of doctors refuse treatment till your tsh hits 10. Read as much as you can on this site, bta and nice guidelines on the subject. Make a case to your doctor be firm and persistant. If the doctor wont budge try another doctor.
