Am on holiday and have run out of levothyroxine 25 mgs. Where can I buy them safely?

Explain to the local pharmacist if he can give you levothyroxine. Or ask the surgery to fax you a prescription to pharmacist if you're in the UK.

If you are in France you can buy them over the counter. It may be the same in some other EU countries.

It's prescription only in France. However, there's always the possibility that a kind pharmacist will take pity on you and sell you a box to tide you over.

Hi, Don't want to provoke a disagreement but it really is available otc at least in the Dordogne where I live. I did the rounds of the pharmacies and stocked up before I came back to the UK.

But, I bet you could only get one packet per pharmacy. It was your accent. They took pity on a tourist. Try going in and asking for ten packets.

Look on the box. It something like 'uniquement par ordonnance'. If I went into a pharmacy where they know me, I wouldn't get it without a prescription. That's not what I call OTC.

Don't really know why this is causing an argument as I can only say what happened to me, but I live in France half the year and speak French so not a tourist and was actually asked how many boxes I wanted in one pharmacie. But it may be that you are quite right and I am wrong.
