Following on from me previous post. I've got the results back for my Ferritin, it's gone through the roof. I've not taken any supplements and I'm not eating enough food. Any ideas??

29th June '17 - 41 ug/L (11-200)

4th October'17 - *162 ug/L (13.00 - 150.00)

Full results attached.

Thank you

You posted a month ago about having tonsillitis, coughing up gunk, and passing lots of blood in your urine. Any or all of these could have the effect of making your ferritin rise.

Bacteria, viruses, fungi, yeasts, parasites ... All of these things need access to iron to reproduce. To prevent this happening the body stores iron in ferritin where the bugs can't get at it and leaves as little "free" iron in the body as possible. Most of the iron you take in with your diet will end up stored in ferritin when you are actively ill.

When you recover from the problems you have then your body will start releasing the iron stored in ferritin.

Our bodies are very clever. Don't worry about your ferritin for now. Your body is doing what it should be doing to protect you while you are ill.

If you want the above explained more comprehensively, read page 8 of this document :

Thank you for replying so fast.

That makes a lot of sense as I've still got the sore throat, etc. (2months now!).
