Thyroid 5.609 borderline and hairfall itching crawling feeling how it will go from my hair when my hair falling will stop........ ........
I replied before but then realised that it was tsh you were reffering to and probably the range is (0.3-6.00)so yes you are boderline.Usually a gp will not prescribe thyroid medication until you are out of range. You could ask for a retest and make sure you get it done on an early appointment say 8am as that is roughly when tsh is highest and that could tip you over out of the range and he would have to do something about it !Did he bother to test t3/t4?...I suspect they are low.You could ask them to test for those as if they are very low coupled with a borderline tsh a good doctor may start you on thyroid medication .Otherwise they should just keep retesting you regularly to see if tsh goes out of range and then they would get you started on some medication. Not having enough thyroid levels can cause hairloss but so can having too much ..it's a fine balancing act!...Ive been losing my hair with crawling/itching/scalp and I've just paid for my own bloodwork this week and I'm over medicated. Hairloss will stop when optimal on medication. You may want to get b12 and iron tested as low levels can cause hairloss and when we have thyroid issues our vitamins/minerals are usually low.You could do to get some bloodwork done for a full thyroid panel including vitamins /iron /folate and ferritin and test for thyroid antibodies which will show if you have hashimotos which is the autoimmune thyroid condition. Treatment would just be the same but you would have to started on it if you have hashimotos .If gp won't do this order your own privately and go show your gp the results.
Yes but my doctor is giving me levothayroxine 50mcg after checking my reports
That's great then ..you have a good doctor!...he should keep raising your dose and checking your bloods every 6 weeks or so until your tsh comes right down and yor syptoms improve but always post your bloodwork results with ranges on here as it's where we are on the ranges that makes all the difference...ie low tsh and t3/t4 st the higher end or until you are symptom free !Sometimes you may feel worse than before when you start on thyroid medication but that should hopefully go as the body adjusts and settles to the hormones. If ultimately the medication doesn't suit you there are others to try .Your hairloss should improve soon but you should definitely get your ferritin/folate /b12/vit D tested as we need good levels to utilise the thyroid medication to work .
He is giving me feronia xt he checked my haemoglobin also he is prescribing me ferrous aacorbate and folic acid tablets
You have a good doctor! Hold on to him!!

But m worring about my hair fall
How long have you been taking levothyroxine 50mcg? Usually we have a blood test every six weeks with an increase of 25mcg of levo each time until we feel better with relief of clinical symptoms.

Blood tests have to be at the very earliest fasting, you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24hours between last dose and test and take afterwards. This helps keep TSH at its highest as it drops throughout the day.
Ask GP to test B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate. We can be deficient which also cause symptoms.
Yes I hv completed only 12days of taking 50 mcg and my doc is prescribing me vitamin tablet and haemoglobin he had checked
That is a good doctor and as your dose is gradually increased, by 25mcg every six weeks, you should begin to feel better and hopefully your hair and other clinical symptoms will resolve.
Everything in our body is affected by low thyroid hormones, from head to toe.
Always get a print-out from the surgery which should show your results plus the ranges. If you need some advice from members, always quote the ranges - the reason being that labs differ and so might the ranges and they are necessary to comment.
No but I was not taking 25mcg because he checked my reports and directly he suggested 50 mcg after checking reports
That's good as 50mcg is a starting dose and tests will be every six weeks.
