Does anyone else see a big dip in energy for a few days after cardio exercises. If so how do you cope

Energy dip after cardio exercises?
Hi and welcome to the forum. If you are hypothyroid and under-medicated, it is counter productive to do strenuous exercise as this uses up your t3, hence making you even more hypo. If we are to give you specific advice, you would really need to tell us a bit about your thyroid condition and any recent test results. If you don't have those then ask your GP's receptionist for a copy, you are entitled to them by law. Then write a new post including these. Post any you can find from tsh, ft4, ft3, folate, ferritin, vit d and vit b12. Also thyroid anti-bodies TpoAb and TgAb. Please include the ranges as labs differ and it is extremely difficult to interpret them without these. Should look something like tsh 2.1(0.4-4.2).

Welcome to this great forum . When I work out and I have low energy after the workout it almost feels like a T3 run out . When I have that feeling I know I need more T4 . When my T4 is optimal I don't have the low energy feeling . I guess it has to do that I have enough T4 to convert to T3 . Nutrients are very important as startagaingirl said .
I didn't know that about T3 and exercise (not that I can do any; I'm semi-disabled with ME/ Cfs and fibromyalgia!) but it explains some of the combined Post-exertional malaise from any activity, I suppose!
So Gillian, could we theoretically avoid the crushing, body-breaking Post Exertional Malaise by taking T3 or T4 immediately before or after exercise? Perhaps with an adrenal supplement after that?
I have ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia and poor mobility/ standing powers, but teach gentle yoga at a hall in my street (couldn't do it otherwise!) as yoga is the only thing that helps my pain - plus I like to share the yoga love ❤️
As always I was absolutely wiped out by my session this morning (which ended at 10.45am), and have only just got back out of bed now at 3pm!
For my Wednesday morning yoga class I've only just had my 75mcg T4 & 12.5mcg T3 two hours before.
But I'm now wondering if I take an additional amount just before the class, or take 1/4 T3 when first waking up and the second T3 1/4 just before or just after the class, whether that would spare me the absolute brain and body deadness that hits me like a ton of bricks.
Argh! It's so hard to know how to help ourselves!
Hi - it's not to do with timing, rather with overall supply. If your normal exercise/exertion levels leave you wiped out or with a very long recovery time, then chances are you are actually under-medicated. Timing of the dose doesn't matter with t4 because it has to undergo conversion in the body before it can be used and that takes a while - t4 is storage only. Timing of t3 also shouldn't matter provided you have enough in your body to saturate all your cells. If you notice that you run out of energy before your next t3 dose, then you aren't taking enough.
If however you change your normal exertion levels, for instance with a long walk or extra sessions a week, then you will need more supply. What works for me is to dose to my normal level of activity. If I then have a high level of extra activity I take more t3 until back to normal levels. I have found by trial and error what works for me, but we are all different.

I have auto-immune hypothyroid disease-ie Hashimoto's.Over the years,I have developed "Exercise Resistance"google it.
I take T3 alongside my T4.At present I am on natural dessicated thyroid but have also been on T3-only & T4/T3.
I do only gentle exercise.If I push myself,I am floored for 3 days,which I have named
DA-day after
DADA-day after the day after
DADADA-day after the day after the day after.
I swim, cycle, walk & go to yoga, but all done at a slow pace, having learnt over the years, the price I pay if I try & "up my fitness level"
Frustrating, but have learnt to live with it.
That is really interesting. I also walk, cycle, swim and yoga. If I overdo it, feel terrible after and it has taken me years to realise why.
If I exercise regularly and not too much, fine but recently I went for a swim which I hadn't done for some time, I had to lie down under a tree in the park and go to sleep afterwards, before going home, my body was like lead.
This week same thing with yoga, paying for it now and have to struggle to work in a minute.
It's really useful to me to read these replies, because although I have become aware of it, still feel I am 'wrong' and should be able to do it. So helpful to know others experiences.
This forum gives me the backing to proceed in a way that suits me-eg say no to long steep fell walks with partner & friends.Only fellow sufferers who research, understand. It means a lot of self-limiting behaviour without others truly understanding, apart from my fellow-travellers on here!
Hi Royo, all good advice here, it might be a good idea for you to have a look at your blood glucose levels before/after meals...I got this kit which has been really useful and been able to adjust my diet to balance my levels.

Also have a look at your adrenals medichecks.com/cortisol-tes... with DHEA Sulphate to calculate the DHEA/Cortisol ratio
Wow! Me too! I wonder if the meds affect our mitochrondia?
I bet it's related to our adrenals...
