Hi everyone, I got my latest bloods back after waiting yet another 14 weeks for a re test ( at doctors say so ! ) . Anyway am on 50 mcg of Levothyroxine and my TSH came back at 1.92 range( 0.27- 4.2). I am still experiencing symptoms, should I ask for an increase in dosage as I see the result is now within ' the range '.
Thanks in advance xx

There is scope for a small increase. The goal of Levothyroxine is to restore the patient to euthyroid status. For most patients that will be when TSH is 0.27 - 1.0 with FT4 in the upper range. FT4 needs to be in the upper range in order that sufficient T3 is converted. Read Treatment Options in thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_... It may be worth requesting ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate are tested. They are frequently low or deficient in hypothyroid patients and symptoms can mimic hypothyroid symptoms.
