Has anybody successfully used Holy Basil supplements to reduce cortisol levels? If so, what dosage did you use?
Has green tea helped with the same problem or is it better to take L-theanine as a supplement?
Thanks for any help you can give!

I'm sorry you've had no replies, Beany6. Feel free to repost your question.
Ages ago I did saliva testing (twice I think) and discovered I had high cortisol. I tried various supplements designed to reduce cortisol, but didn't actually get anywhere with any of them until I tried Holy Basil.
I take this one :
healthmonthly.co.uk/swanson...
The bottle suggests taking 2 capsules per dose, and take 2 doses per day.
This had zero effect so I increased to 3 doses, then 4. Four doses actually made me feel a bit ill, so I went back to 3 doses per day. I stayed on that dose for several weeks, possibly even 3 months. I did improve, and I was able to tolerate raising my dose of thyroid meds which was my ultimate aim.
After a while I didn't feel so good on 3 doses and reduced to 2 doses which again I stayed on for several weeks. Eventually I reduced to 1 dose (2 capsules) per day which I now take in the early evening. If I feel jittery I will take another dose at bedtime.
I will admit that being short of cash I haven't done saliva testing for a long time, I have relied purely on how I feel. So far, I have "got away with it", but I am aware that this is far from ideal!
