I have heard differing opinions about whether to take your meds before the blood tests, any advice to get the most accurate results would be gratefully appreciated

Should I Take My Levo Before My Blood Test This Afternoon??
No, you shouldn't. Neither should you have your blood test in the afternoon.
TSH is highest early in the morning, and decreases throughout the day. It also decreases after eating. And, as doctors only look at the TSH, you need to have your blood draw early in the morning, after fasting over-night. Take your levo after the blood draw, or you will have a rediculously high FT4.
No. All that you'll be measuring is the T4 in the Levo. We usually suggest taking Levo 24 hours before the blood test and not taking any more until after it.
The timing of your test is not good either. TSH has a circadian rhythm. It is lowest in the afternoon, and highest during the night. The best time for testing (during normal NHS hospital or surgery hours) is as early as possible. 7.30 - 8am if you can manage it.
Since doctors use TSH as their guide to dosage having a low TSH is more likely to get your dose of meds reduced, or you might be denied an increase in meds when you really need one.
Edit : greygoose beat me to it, and was more concise than me as usual.
Thank you, appreciate the advice. Rescheduled
