I've been struggling these past 5 days with a really sore throat which is beyond painful and feels like it is closing up! You can see anything but I've also now lost my voice. I went to the GP yesterday who diagnosed laryngitis and antibiotics for 10 days. But I'm really struggling to get the pills down and past whatever is obstructing them. Pain relief doesn't seem to do anything and I've tried them all. Do you think this is in some way thyroid related? I had a scan some years ago and was told I had a 'very' multi-modular thyroid. Has anyone ever had anything similar? I think I'm going to have to go back to GP as soon I won't be able to swallow anything!

I've been told in the past that I've got a milti granular Thyroid and it must make it difficult to get bloods right but are you sure he didn't say multi nodular? Is GP aware of that? He may well need reminding and ask him to refer you for another scan ASAP.
Thank you for replying. Sorry it was a typo. I have a multi-nodular thyroid. It's a new GP since the one who did the scan and I'm sure she hadn't looked that far into my records! I think I need to go back. This feels more to me than laryngitis 😢
Hi, if its really inflamed it sounds like more of an infection than anything to do with thyroid. I'm not medical so this doesn't constitute med advice (ya know how it is!). Best of luck with it.
