Hi everyone after a year of suffering and and months of various tests I have been given the diagnosis of Fibro. I am feeling a bit scared and worried for the future. I know that it's not life threatening but I feel like my whole world has been turned upside down! How do others in the community cope with pain/ fatigue??
The GP I saw yesterday has sent me off with a leaflet, a prescription for Codine and an appointment with her next month it seems a long time between consults is this normal?
Many thanks for any advice you lovely people can give.

Hi, im new to this site too but thought I would just ask if you have had your B12 and folate levels checked. The B12 serum test is inconclusive in relation to a deficiency and if you have the symptoms of a deficiency (which is accessed via the P.A.S site on here)... My GP is talking about labelling me Fibro/ME but im convinced I have B12 deficiency.
le2333 If you have had any thyriod tests, vitamin and mineral tests, full blood count carried out, please post the results with their reference ranges for members to comment.
I don't hearing that people are "diagnosed" with fibromyalgia. It is a symptom, not a disease, and there will be a reason for it. I just feel that GPs can wash their hands of you, dish out painkillers and anti-depressants, and leave you to it. It would be nice if they could look for the cause, so please please please get everything checked before settling for this.
My so-called fibromyalgia was a severely deficient level of vitamin D. The pain was absolutely horrendous, but I had to really fight to get tested (before I knew about private blood tests). The pain went as I supplemented high levels of vitamin D3. The GP couldn't understand why my "fibromyalgia" had gone. Other nutrient deficiencies can also cause the symptoms, so get them all tested (as Marz suggested).
