When I lived in England and had an excemption certificate (I live in Wales now so no prescription charge), when it expired I used to send it off for renewal. I'm sure details used to be on the card. Have you checked your card to see if there are any instructions?

I go to reception at the GP surgery and fill out the form again. They then get doctor to sign it and they send it off.

If you need any prescriptions between now and when you get your new card, I advise you to PAY for them.

Ask for the special receipt (not just a till receipt) and, when you get your new Medex, you can reclaim.

People have been done for obtaining prescriptions when not in possession of a valid Medex - even if entitled to one.
