If your job involves sitting at a computer for so many hours (cant remember how many now) you are supposed to be able to have it reimbursed by your company/

Did not know that one SJaggs, do you mean even if you don't have an exemption certificate, or only with an EC. ?

yes, if you are computer based they pay for the eye test and also supposed to pay for your work glasses too .....hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/nimmanu...

Employer pays a contribution only to glasses spec for computer use not general use

This says if you ask they cant say no basically (Page 4 of 6) hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg36.pdf

and possibly corrective basic frames and lenses.

Cant find the amount of hours the optometrist told me, but this seems to refer to computer users in general regardless of time of use.

So if you don't ask you don't get. ;) Nobody tells you about these things, a bit like many don't realize they are entitled to benefits, but are never told.

And its for everyone, don't have to have an EC

I don't know, but if you work with a computer every day, your employer may be obliged (or willing) to pay for an annual eye test.

Hubby use to work on vehicles for large company, he had a free eye sight test and prescription safety glasses issued, not cheap either.

Hi I have just been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid I was told to ask my Dr for the form Fp92a to be completed is this the form you filled in or did you do something different I'm from the UK

If you mean the credit card sized exemption then no, it does not cover eye tests or glasses, you need to fill in a separate for for that.

What form would I need to fill in ? I'm new to all this so any advice would be great

I strongly urge you to write a brand new question. This is over eight years old!

I assume you are asking which form for prescription charge exemption?

My vade mecum document has a section on prescription charges including links to the appropriate official web sites.

helvella - Vade Mecum for Thyroid

The term vade mecum means:

1. A referential book such as a handbook or manual.

2. A useful object, constantly carried on one’s person.

Please don't get put off by the number of pages!

Nor by the fact it is targeted at people interested in thyroid issues. Much of its contents could be of use to many involved in health issues. Things like abbreviations, lists, general reference information.

In particular, it is not intended that you sit and read the document. Just that you download it and know you can look things up.

If there is anything you'd like me to add, let me know.

Not everything is in this one document - my major medicines document is still separate!
