Am somewhat sceptical when I see American doctors selling the idea of a solution or reversing a condition.

Whilst the idea of identifying the reason why the auto immune condition has come about is obviously important, I suspect that many of us have thyroids that have been damaged to such an extent that they will always require hormonal support which is not always straight forward - no neat solution or fix unfortunately.

That said, I understand his book is very good and is on my birthday list :-)

I think, too, that it is pointing out that we can get more than one autoimmune. I have three now. The first was discovered through a fluke so I've never had any clinical symptoms.

Thank you Shaws. I have seen this before and like it. As I have Hashimoto's and probably another AI disease (Sjogren's) I like the idea of treating the autoimmunity rather than just the thyroid. I would like to switch off the autoimmune attack altogether. In this video series they mention a drug LDN (low dose naltrexone) which is cheap, out of license and safe which, anecdotally, has been found to be very effective in many AI conditions. Because it is cheap and out of license no pharmaceutical company can make money out of this drug so no one is going to do the huge randomised drug trials that would be necessary for it to be widely accepted by the medical establishment. I mentioned it to my GP , who refuses to prescribe T3 for me, and he had never heard of LDN. Here's a link for more info: lowdosenaltrexone.org/index...

I have come across LDN with regard to a friend who has MS. From what I have discovered it is very cheap but takes about 18 months for any benefit to be felt with MS. (Will this correlate to other disorders?) The most interesting thing I have found with regard to autoimmune disorders is the work of Dr Coimbra in Brazil who uses high doses of D3 (only under supervision) to stop their progression. Dr Coimbra has been successfully treating people for over 15 years and has trained doctors in Europe but none, of course, here.

Thanks for the information :) Vit D as with B12, both are pro-hormones and doctors in the UK don't seem bothered if patients have low levels of both. Particularly B12 which if low could cause neurological damage.
