I did too when over-medicated, I also developed infection and some bone loss. My marvellous dentist has sorted it all out while I've done my bit and at last been referred to someone helping with the thyroid problem and the bleeding has stopped.
I read somewhere that low vitamin C can cause the walls of capillaries to become more breakable or brittle. So, when I developed bleeding gums again (it's a problem that comes and goes for me and has done for a long time) I tried vitamin C. It worked for me!
My dentist and hygienist blamed my bleeding gums on poor dental hygiene It was later found that, amongst all the other nutrients I was deficient in, I was also deficient in vitamin C - as a strict vegetarian, I had been eating at least 15 full portions of vegetables per day, and I was STILL deficient. I had to take quite high levels of supplements to sort the problem out.
I had very low stomach acid, so wasn't absorbing anything from my food properly.
My own experience is that a doctor won't be interested in testing your vitamin C at all, although you could always ask for advice about the bleeding gums just to see.
There's nothing to stop you buying some vitamin C though
I think I will go and buy some. Yeah I didn't think my doctor would, my doctor didn't even want to test me for my vitamin D levels. She asked why I wanted to be tested?
When she got my results she was in shock and asked me how im I still going.😐
