tina2026,
Have you discussed your levothyroxine dose with your GP? Maybe you are under-dosed. Have you had a blood test recently to check?
Yes, many GPs are less than useful with thyroid issues, but not everyone needs to take T3 and self medicating isn't necessarily an easy path either.
I moved GP's because my last one was useless. The new one is just as bad, I have a blood test once a year, and according to them I'm fine !
tina2026, Once yearly blood test is the norm. But if you don't feel right, you need to tell your GP and ask for your levels to be checked again. You should also ask for a printed copy of your test results because what your GP thinks is 'fine', quite probably isn't.
Get in touch with your surgery for your most recent thyroid test numbers, then post them here on the forum. Explain what symptoms you're suffering with. Experienced members can then offer advise on how you can move forward with this problem.
Keep reading the posts and comments from others here and you may find that there are things you can do to help yourself, such as changing the time you take your thyroxine.
Self medicating with T3 should be a last resort, only once all other avenues have been exhausted.
I had loads of blood tests done at my local hospital last year. I didn't think to ask for a copy of results, but was told to continue with 200mg Levo, to take vit D, test came back showing inflammation, not sure what that meant. I have noticed that my symptoms over the years are connected with my hormones. I started thyroid problems after the birth of my daughter and again menopausal. While I had as coil fitted I felt well, and the levo was fine. When the coil ran out of progesterone, I tried to get another fitted, but GP wouldn't allow it because of my age !

Do you have Hashimotos? Had your antibodies checked? If they are high then you have Hashimotos (Drs think it irrelevant- but we usually need to address this to feel better)
Have you had recent tests for vitamin D, folate, ferritin & B12
These need to be at good levels- often they are dire
If you can't face asking GP for tests - see Thyroid Uk on where we can get private tests done
Most popular is full thyroid & vitamin tests via Medichecks or Blue Horizon (£99 often have money off offers)
Always do any thyroid blood test as early as possible & fasting. Don't take Levo in 24hours prior
If you are taking vitamin B complex with biotin in stop it 4/5 days prior to test (can falsely affect TSH test result)
See Thyroid Uk website
